RINK RAT

Living the dream of becoming a Warrior starts from a young age, and thanks to the commitment of so many in our town, opportunities abound for kids who wish to hone their skills and play the game they love.

Warroad is one of the only associations that still offers free ice to their kids and also encourages kids to “Come Early, Stay Late, and Skate Every Day.” Outside of the rink kids can often be seen on the five mile skate path on the Warroad River, skating from river rink to river rink playing pick-up games with their friends.

That rink rat mentality in Warroad is the secret sauce with all of the successful teams and players that have come out of Warroad over the years. Kids skate their own practices, but are also welcomed by the coaches of other level teams to skate their practices too.

On the weekends it’s not uncommon to see parents bring in meals so kids can take a short break and go back to having fun with their friends.
